The Q-VU folding stereo mount is a neat gizmo which makes the life of a print stereo format stereographer a whole lot easier. It was developed around 1985 following an expression of need for an easier way to mount views for viewing in the Holmes format stereoscope by members of the Stereoscopic Society of America (SSA). A request for a printer who could help with the project was circulated through the Stereoscopic Society folios, and member 818 (Quentin Burke, who at the time owned a printing plant) responded. 

Knowledgeable Stereo Photographers like John Dennis, Craig Daniels and David Starkman contributed comments to the initial design devised by Mr. Burke. The mounts were then put into production, and have been used by hundreds of stereographers around the world since. Their acceptance is evidenced at the annual NSA and PSA (stereo division) exhibitions, where many views are presented to the judges in Q-VU mounts. The Q-VU mounts come in three openings: Antique, for those who like the old, arched Underwood & Underwood style opening; Modern, for those who like a more contemporary look; and the X window mount, for people who want to do close-ups or are using Nimslo or Loreo or Argus or split frame cameras. 

There are several kinds of packages. The mounts are packaged in 50's, and usually sold by the 100 (2 x 50-unit packages). Buyers can mix or match for the 100 price. There are also Mini-Packs containing 12 Q-VUs Colors: All Q-VUs are made in gray and black. Additionally, Modern and X mounts are made in "rainbow" colors.  Available colors have decreased due to supply difficulties. Ask before ordering. Q-VU doesn't have a catalog, but the items we stock are listed below. We have $6 sample packages (with 12 mounts) of each style of mount also (plus $6 foreign p&h by air or $3 in the U.S.), or you can buy in 50s or 100s at the price on our price list. We accept personal checks and money orders. We are too small an operation to be able to handle credit cards. You may not have heard about NSA, a national organization of stereo photographers and collectors. Information on joining the organization is also in the kit.
